I want to apologize for not communicating as much as I normally do leading up to Summer Discipleship this year. I intended to discuss details with the students at camp last week and send info home this past Sunday; however, we had to change plans to better serve others with the recent circumstances we have encountered in our church. I appreciate your understanding.
Tomorrow will launch our first week of Summer Discipleship. For those that were involved with it last year, it will be similar to how things were done then. If you were not involved, Summer Discipleship is a five-week experience that will grow your teens while having a blast. The cost will be $50/student and that will cover all meals and activities we do. It will be hosted at the church from 8-4 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is an outline of what the day will look like:
8-8:15 – Arrival
8:15-8:45 – Quiet time (reading, journal, listen to worship music, or pray)
8:45-9:30 – Bible study lesson
9:30-9:45 – Break
9:45-10:45 – Group time
10:45-11:15 – Rec time (hangout in the youth building)
11:15-12:00 – Lunch
12 – 4 – Activity
4:00 – Parents pick up students
Each day we will cover different material in the Bible study time and our group time will be centered around a project we must work together as a team to accomplish (team building). On Tuesday, we will do a recreational activity like bowling, go to the movies, go swimming, or a trip to the zoo. On Thursday afternoon we will meet a need in the community by doing a group service project.
The teens really enjoyed the activities we did last year and I look forward to creating more great memories this year while they are challenged in their walk with Christ. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or need anything related to Summer Discipleship.
